I believe in Doing Things Yourself. Maybe it's because I have serious trust issues with people in general. Maybe because I have a severe anti-authoritarian, libertarian, objectivist streak. Or maybe because I know so many talented people who are waiting for someone to give them permission to Do Good. Or just to Do.

Austin. 2002. 1? What better place to be than here and now.

First Things First

It makes the most sense to tackle the sorts of projects you can bring to fruition.

The easiest projects would be the ones you can do yourself. Recording songs falls into this category. Drawing very simple comics could be done solo.

The next-easiest category would be the sort of thing that only requires a few people, like sketch comedy. A radio serial might fall into the same category, with its relatively simple production requirements.

Beyond that, we get to the movies, game shows, and so on, which require much more effort. Best to put those off.

1? (Peter) This sprung from a conversation we had after seeing Gigantic (the They Might Be Giants documentary), which described the Brooklyn proto-punk scene of the late 70's/early 80's, a hothouse of musical and theatrical activity. Paraphrasing: "Ten years from now, I don't wanna say 'I was in Austin in the early zeroes. But I didn't do anything."
