Peter's Comments:
Continuing to write simple piano pieces as part of my piano instruction. For this one, I was to take a bassline I had constructed for "Born Free" and compose something new on top of it.

Of course, by the time I got around to this I was pretty tired of "Born Free," and came up with chords that more-or-less ran roughshod over the bassline. My piano instructor was a bit nonplussed by all these chordal non-sequiturs that rarely acknowledged the notes below.

Unfortunately, the melody was an afterthought -- the only thing I like about it is that one F# in the bridge, the result of inflicting some applied dominants on the bassline. It's a cheesy, emasculated sort of tune that muddies the effect of the peaceful, dissonant chords below.
