Peter's Song of the Week Club!

Peter's Comments:
Again, I slowly catch up on last week's songfight title. This one was, in fact, due last week, but I was still in the throes of getting my computer put back together, and finishing up Dog Without Warning, which was the title from a month before.

Tardiness aside, there are a lot of things I like about this song. The chord progression is lots of fun, with lots of 'whoops how did we get in this key?' action, as well as playing the verse riff in (I think) the chorus key at the end.

This is the first time I've done backup vocals that I've liked. This is the first time I've done a bass part that I've liked. This is the first time I've gotten MIDI instruments to behave properly and not require a separate recording pass. 1? It's not a terribly original song for me 2?, and the lyrics are 'eh' 3?, but I think the song is a good piece of work. It represents a small step up in production quality for this little home-recording project.

Now if I could just catch up to the current songfight title....

Footnotes

1? Yes, that sounds like gibberish -- in layman's terms, 'MIDI is now much easier.'

2? The vocal melody, in places, is a total ripoff of I Pretend I Have a Cat.

3? Yet another attempt at the Good Old-Fashioned Love Song gone curiously awry.
