Who Could Blame You?

Peter's Comments:
Okay, lots of things wrong with this week's entry. First off, I tried one of my more ambitious pieces of production on a weekend where I had to run a two-month backlog of errands. So everything was down to the wire every step of the way. For example, I ended up with a batch of lyrics that were basically a confidence meltdown while hitting on a girl. I wanted to rewrite it into something happie, but there just wasn't time....

I'm still trying to make friends with the electric guitar, which I use for a couple of riffs and a solo here. I need to use less reverb on those tracks so that they don't turn the mix into mush. Also, MIDI was misbehaving. I'm still working on using SoundFonts instead of the SoundBlaster's cheap built-in voices, which is time-consuming and challenging. And, I accidentally cranked the reed organ too loud just before mixing down. Grr.

In the end, I think I spent way too much time trying to turn a technical exercise (in using ostinato-like riffs and a major-to-minor-chord turnaround) into a decent song. Better luck next week....
