Please Be Mine

Peter's Comments:
Ha! You can get blood from a stone! So this week, I had no ideas, no clue what to do, no inspiration at all... and I STILL WROTE A SONG!!! <fiendish laughter> Very heartening. Up to this point, I was worried about what would happen when I ran out of ideas. (Although it does look like, throughout my songs, I'm capable of playing only one (1) guitar solo, over and over again.)

So, apparently, these sort of 'suffering in a horrible relationship' songs are sub-genre that I can write with alarming ease. I wonder if I've ripped something off here.... If so, oh well, there's always next week. :)

Trying out a few things on this one. First off, I'd noticed a lot of Elvis Costello melodies ("Allison," "Veronica") have a sharp division between the 'chorus range' and the 'verse range' as far as pitch goes -- the verses cluster around a low 'safe note,' the chorus around a really high 'safe note.' So of course I wanted to try that. Also I wanted to see about capoing up the chords and then using the uncapoed guitar for a bass line. I had thought I would lower the pitch an octave in my wave editor, but decided the guitar was fine as it was.
