One Thousand Blank White Cards:
A Quick Guide
What Is It?
"One thousand blank white cards" is sort of the card-game equivalent of
nomic. You start with a bunch of blank white index cards. Players then create playable cards by drawing words, graphics, rules, and/or point values on each card.
It was
invented in Boston a few years ago. 1
What Are the Rules?
The complete rules are
here -- an overview of the rules follows:
You start a round by dealing out five cards per player, and putting the remaining cards in the 'draw' pile. Play proceeds around, with a simple 'draw one/play one' rule. When a player is about to draw, but there are no cards left in the draw pile, the round is over. Whoever has the most points wins the round.
Then, players vote on which cards to keep in the deck, and which cards to retire from the deck. Players replace the retired cards by creating new cards.
Some Sample Cards
Here are some cards that I made:
Mullet Surprise
- Graphic: A small 'mullet' icon, and a series of horizontal lines (like notebook paper).
- Rules: Add a made-up synonym for 'mullet' to this card, and collect 100 points!
Buddy Jesus
- Graphic: Jesus, offering a hearty "thumbs up."
- Rules: Resurrect and play any card in the discard pile.
Damn, it Feels Good to Be a Gangsta.
- Graphic: Nerdy stick figure.
- Rules: Aw, yeah. 200 points.
... many of my cards are scanned in
here. The above cards are in
this directory.
There are also
a bunch of cards on another server, including this one:
