What Needs Fixing, and How Badly Does It Need to Be Fixed?

The Peter sez:

I took the liberty of doing some small revisions. The largest thing I changed was that I removed one of the letters towards the end, 'cos I thought the 'Ark of the Covenant' joke was too cheesy. Ideally, we should put another (funnier) letter back in.

We must get Chris R. B. Fay to play the historian.

Generally, I think the piece works really well. I think we still need to rewrite the last speech (very ambiguous tone for the ending, and not in a good way, IMHO), and I'm not sure the jokes about 'heavy water' rise above cheesiness, but the central conceit, the characterizations, and the historian running gag are all really, really solid.
