Personally, I think the numbering system looks more "sportslike". It's reminiscent of basketball, football, hockey, baseball, marathon running, olympic events---everywhere atheletes are referred to by number. So I think the numbers make Micetro seem more like a sporting event, which I suspect Keith would find to be a Good Thing (tm).
