Bob's Improv Class:
Goals
Help Us Cheat.
- "Fake it 'til you make it" -- sometimes it's good to do things with training wheels for a while.
Develop stock material.
- So, for example, we have good characters to fall back on when we're working (instead) on objective.
Make the Troupe Better.
Make Improv Better.
- Advance the state of the art by teaching something that isn't already in a book we have.
- Find new ways to look at improv, teach improv, and do improv.
Footnotes
1
Improvisors that get too introspective fall into a death spiral of "...I'm worrying about sucking so I'll analyze my performance and focus intensely and try hard to do better but I can't because I'm worrying about sucking..." and then their heads explode.
2
Meaning, make Bob a better teacher and pad Bob's resume'. :)
