Artists That Shouldn't Do Advertisements for the Gap
Probably no longer topical, but play off of the ad that shows a series of artists singing Supertramp's "Give a Little Bit," except do it exclusively with artists that wouldn't quite fit the Gap's marketing campaign:
- Billy Bragg ("Give a little bit of your love -- and, hey, why not give a livin' wage to your Malaysian sweatshop workers!" <lights fade as he continues tirade>)
- Gilbert
- DEVO
- Pink-album-era They Might Be Giants
- Rage Against the Machine
- Completely stoned Reggae artists
- Marilyn Manson
- Nearly dead Rolling Stones
- Ranting spoken-word Henry Rollins or Jello Biafra
- Heroin-addled: Jesus & Mary Chain, Ministry
- My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult
- Glenn Danzig/The Misfits
- Motorhead
- Cypress Hill
As always, start with a 'normal' artist, then go strange. You could throw in equally inappropriate combinations of artists. Gilbert would have to end up tied up in a corner during the subsequent artist's segment.
